From City management to the blogosphere: Daly City’s assistant city manager shares her insights on local government

Back in September of 2013, Julie Thuy Underwood moved to the Bay Area as her spouse pursued a job opportunity at a tech company in the Bay Area. This meant that she had to resign her position as City Manager of Shoreline, WA. During her five months between positions, she had time to reflect and share her insights as a guest blogger for ELGL.org. And as a result, I wrote the article that has had the most hits on their website titled, “The Great Debate: City Manager vs. Assistant City Manager.”

Underwood has now been both. In March 2014, she was appointed Assistant City Manager for the City of Daly City. She has also been the Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Rockville, MD.
