Michelle Greene Chosen for Goleta City Manager
Goleta Interim City Manager Michelle Greene was promoted to a permanent position Tuesday, following a unanimous vote by the city council. Greene is replacing former City Manager Dan Singer, who resigned in April to take a job in the City of Poway.
Greene’s selection was made after an intense, nationwide search that drew more than 70 candidates. It was conducted by Roseville-based recruitment firm, Bob Murray and Associates.
"Ms. Greene is the right person to lead our organization forward. She is a long-time Goleta resident who is respected within the community, by her colleagues, and by City's employees," said Mayor Michael T. Bennett. "We were pleased to find an excellent candidate in our own ranks given the highly qualified pool of individuals who applied."
Greene has worked for the city of Goleta since 2004, starting out as a Management Analyst. She eventually rose to the position of Administrative Services Director before being hired as the city’s Deputy City Manager in 2013. She has been serving as Interim City Manager since May 6.
