City Manager Michael J. Beck made the announcement on Wednesday.
Matthew Hawkesworth got the appointment from the city and should begin October 5th.
An eight-month search was conducted and found Hawkesworth to be the one for the job having previously served a number of other Southern California cities including Claremont and El Monte.
His most recent post was that of Assistant City Manager of Rosemead, so it is just a hop and a skip up to Pasadena.
In his announcement, City Manager Beck described Hawkesworth’s strengths saying he “brings strong managerial and financial experiences to help restore public confidence in our financial operations.”
Hawkesworth said he is “honored to have been selected to serve the Pasadena community.”
The appointment comes as Pasadena is in the process of filling out it directorial roster. The city is still in the process of hiring directors for Public Works, Human Resources, Human Services and Recreation and Water & Power.
Hawkesworth’s position allows a max annual salary of $199,799, an odd choice being as it is the Finance Director and a round $200K would just look so much nicer.
