Elon Musk Says He’s Building a Tunnel Underneath Los Angeles

Tesla co-founder Elon Musk is fed up with L.A. traffic. But he says he's got a solution: digging a tunnel underneath its roads.

"Exciting progress on the tunnel front," Musk tweeted Wednesday. "Plan to start digging in a month or so."

Wait, what?

“Yup.”

Where? How? Is he getting permits for this? No one knows. But because it's Elon Musk, people are taking it seriously and wondering whether some major project is in the making.

Musk first mentioned the plan back in December.

"Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging," he tweeted, adding, "it shall be called 'The Boring Company.'"

People thought it was a joke. But Elon says he’s as serious as a five-alarm fire.

Here's the thing. Many insist digging tunnels underneath Los Angeles won't improve the gridlock that’s driving Elon crazy. Unless it's a private tunnel just for Elon. And if that’s the case, please take us with you!
