The cities of Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova have each appointed a new council member to fill a seat left vacant by the recent death of one of their councilmen.
As City News reported in April, both cities lost a council member within days of each other. Citrus Heights Councilman Melvin Turner, 67, passed after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Dan Skoglund, 66, of Rancho Cordova died from complications after a heart surgery.
Citrus Heights Planning Commission Chair and former law enforcement officer Albert Fox has been chosen to replace Turner. In Rancho Cordova, local business owner Garrett Gatewood has been appointed. He has served on the city’s Chamber of Commerce board of directors for three years.
