El Segundo Taps Scott Mitnick as City Manager

El Segundo has hired a new city manager. Scott Mitnick, who most recently worked as a director for municipal consultancy KNN Public Finance, will take over on July 1, replacing retiring city manager Greg Carpenter.

There were 60 candidates for the position, according to The Beach Reporter. The City Council was impressed with Mitnick’s experience. He has worked for several local governments over his decades-long career in public service, including Brea, Burbank, Thousand Oaks, and Sutter County. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University. As El Segundo’s chief administrator he’ll oversee 240 employees and a budget of roughly $115 million.

“Scott’s ability to craft a compelling vision, hold his team accountable and achieve results were key factors in our decision,” said Mayor Drew Boyles.

"I am humbled by city council's support and vote of confidence in my abilities to manage the organization at this exciting time,” said Mitnick. “El Segundo has a long history as a full-service city with a proud tradition of independence and self-confidence.”
