Richmond Selects Interim City Manager

Former Lafayette City Manager Steven Falk has been sworn in as interim city manager of Richmond following the termination of its top administrator Carlos Martinez, Bay City News reports.

The selection of someone outside the city was important to labor unions, which had clashed repeatedly with Martinez.

For the past two weeks, Henry Gardner has been serving as acting chief. He will now lead the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum Authority on an interim basis.

The Richmond City Council will take up a contract for Falk on Sept. 10. Falk is earning $175 per hour or just over $26,000 per month while the city searches for a permanent administrator.
