Stockton Lets Its City Manager Go

The Stockton City Council has voted to terminate City Manager Kurt Wilson, KCRA reports. The closed-session vote was 6-0 with Councilwoman Susan Lenz absent.

Mayor Michael Tubbs addressed the firing Tuesday, saying that the city was in need of a change in leadership.

"Mr. Wilson was instrumental in ensuring that the city exited bankruptcy and built up our financial reserves," said Tubbs. However, "the issues before us will take a different vision and outlook to help us implement strategies around economic development, public safety, homelessness and manage our overall growth.”

“We look forward to this next chapter in Stockton’s history and wish Mr. Wilson the best of luck in his future endeavors,” the mayor added.
