Well, here’s a move sure to ruffle a few feathers:
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a resolution on Tuesday declaring that the National Rifle Association is a domestic terrorist organization. The officials also urged other cities, states and the federal government to follow suit.
District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani wrote the resolution and shared her thoughts on the NRA with KTVU
"The NRA has it coming to them," she said. "And I will do everything I possibly can to call them out on what they are, which is a domestic terrorist organization." - SF Gate
Stefani cited gun death statistics and the recent mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
The resolution, which was passed unanimously, accuses the organization of spreading false propaganda and promoting extremism through its intense lobbying and advocacy efforts. While largely symbolic, it also calls on San Francisco to “take every reasonable step” to limit business with NRA or NRA-affiliated groups.
The NRA pushed back Wednesday, calling the Board’s resolution “worthless and disgusting.”
