Oxnard Mayor Announces Supervisor Bid

Oxnard Mayor Tim Flynn is jumping into the race for Ventura County’s 5th District. Flynn announced his candidacy Wednesday, the Ventura County Star reports.

Flynn will join at least three other candidates vying to replace John Zaragoza, who is termed out next year: retired Air Force Maj. Jeffrey Burum, Oxnard Councilwoman Carmen Ramirez, and Oxnard School District Trustee Veronica Robles-Solis.

One could say Flynn has a little of the 5th District in his blood. His father held the seat for 32 years before Zaragoza ousted him in 2008.

If Flynn wins, he and Zaragoza could end up swapping seats. The termed-out supervisor says he is running for mayor of Oxnard.
