SmartAsset weighed five key metrics to determine the best cities for beer drinkers: 1) total number of breweries 2) number of breweries per 100,000 residents 3) average number of beers per brewery 4) number of bars per 100,000 residents 5) average price per pint of domestic draught beer.
Researchers looked at 350 of the largest cities in the U.S.
These were the top 10 best cities for beer drinkers:
1. Cincinnati, Ohio
2. St. Louis, Missouri
3. Portland, Oregon
4. Asheville, North Carolina
5. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
6. Denver, Colorado
7. Bend, Oregon
8. Madison, Wisconsin
9. Missoula, Montana
10. Cleveland, Ohio
These were the top cities for beer drinkers in California:
1. San Francisco, California (#25 nationally)
2. Vista, California (#40 nationally)
3. San Diego, California (#46 nationally)
