Los Alamitos Hires New City Manager

The Los Alamitos City Council has appointed Westminster Assistant City Manager and Development Director Chet Simmons as its next top administrator, the Orange County Breeze reports. Simmons was hired by a unanimous vote, effective next month.

“We are delighted to welcome Chet to the City of Los Alamitos and to have him lead our Executive team. Chet brings with him a wealth of experience and we look forward to working with him,” said Mayor Mayor Richard D. Murphy.

“This is a great opportunity and I want to thank the Mayor and the City Council for the confidence and trust they have placed in me,” stated Simmons. “Los Alamitos is an outstanding community with great residents and an unequaled staff. I am truly excited to see what we are able to accomplish together.”

Simmons played a important role in a number of development projects in Westminster, including the redevelopment of the Westminster Mall and the Civic Center property, as well as the new project at Bolsa Row. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Gonzaga University and belongs to the Urban Land Institute, the International City Management Association, and the California City Management Foundation.
