Sacramento Region Has the Lowest COVID-19 Rate of Large Metros Nationwide

The Sacramento metropolitan area has the lowest SARS-CoV-2 infection rate among the 50 largest metros in the USA, according to a new analysis from the Sacramento Bee.

The publication surveyed per capita infection rates for all American metropolitan areas with more than 1 million people. Those with the highest rates were New York, New Orleans, Boston, and Providence, RI.

Sacramento had 1,825 cases total, Which comes out to 74 cases for every 100,000 residents. By contrast, New York’s rate is 2,000/100,000.

The Sacramento metropolitan area has a population of 2.3 million people and includes the counties of Sacramento, Placer, Yolo and El Dorado.
