Salinas City Manager to Retire
Salinas City Manager Ray Corpuz is preparing to retire. Corpuz made the announcement Tuesday, nearly nine years after he assumed the position. His last day is Sept. 29.
“Salinas will always be a very special place for me,” said Corpuz. “I am fortunate to have served the City while having met so many wonderful people.”
Corpuz previously managed Seaside for six years. Before that, he was city manager of Tacoma, Washington. His tenure in Salinas saw the appointment of the city's first female police and fire chiefs and the passage of a 1% sales tax through voter-approved Measure G.
