Signs Warning of “Increased Satanic Cult Activity” Around Big Bear Lake Are a Hoax, Officials Say

Authorities in Big Bear Lake, California want people to know there’s no cabal of Satanists sacrificing pets in the popular resort town.

Official-looking signs warning of “increased Satanic cult activity” have been popping up around Big Bear and on social media. They warn that several missing persons reports have been filed and that pets have been used in Satanic rituals.

The signs — which bear the U.S. Forest Service logo — are fake, the city said on its Facebook page. It looks like the hoax has been keeping someone entertained during the pandemic.

Anyone with information about the signs’ origin is asked to call dispatch at 909-383-5651.
