Meet Mountain View’s New Communications Officer, Lenka Wright

The city of Mountain View will welcome a new chief communications officer next month. Lenka Wright, who has worked as a public relations officer for San Jose and Santa Clara, is scheduled to start on Oct. 5. She will “manage the city’s community and employee communications, including branding and marketing initiatives, the multilingual community outreach program, and media relations, as well as oversee emergency public information and crisis communications,” according to a press release.

Wright earned a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and political science from Indiana University and a master’s degree in communication arts from New the York Institute of Technology. She was a local news reporter until 2006. She then served as the chief communications officer for Bellevue, Wash, assistant director of communications and communications manager for San Jose, and communications and media relations manager for Abilene, Texas.

City Manager Kimbra McCarthy called Wright a savvy communicator and “a wonderful match” for the city.
