Oakley Hires New Police Chief

The City of Oakley in Contra Costa County has tapped a La Habra police captain as its next police chief.

Dean Capelletti will replace former Oakley Police Chief Eric Christensen, who retired earlier this summer after a nearly 30-year career. Capelletti has been in law enforcement for almost two decades. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, according to the East Bay Times.

“Our community has made it very clear that they expect outstanding police work on every level, beginning with the leadership,” Mayor Kevin Romick said, as quoted by the East Bay Times. “Chief Capelletti possesses excellent law enforcement and personal skills ‐- as well as an uncompromising work ethic ‐- all of which will benefit Oakley enormously. He will be a great fit in our community and an asset to our police department.”
