San Francisco Gym Owners Cry Foul Over City’s Hypocrisy

Those opposed to public health restrictions during the pandemic have had a field day pointing to alleged hypocrisy on the part of government officials. Last week, the country was abuzz over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s haircut. Now, San Francisco gym owners are furious after learning that city employees have had access to government-owned gyms while their private facilities remain closed.

“It just demonstrates that there seems to be some kind of a double standard between what city employees are allowed to do and what the residents of San Francisco are allowed to do,” Dave Karraker, owner of MX3 Fitness, told NBC.

Gyms at the SFPD Northern District Police Station and the Hall of Justice are open, according to NBC. Meanwhile, privately owned facilities must stay closed until the end of September at least. Struggling owners say it's unjust and unfair.
