Sacramento Likely to Approve 10 More Dispensaries

The Sacramento City Council is expected to approve 10 additional cannabis dispensaries this week in an attempt to increase social equity.

“The Law and Legislation Committee, which contains four council members, unanimously voted to recommend the item to the full nine-member council, a sign it will likely pass,” according to the Sacramento Bee

None of Sacramento’s 30 licensed cannabis dispensaries are currently owned by women or people of color. The hope is that some or all of the new dispensaries will be, but it’s not clear how that will be achieved. Eligibility criteria still has to be developed.
