Denton, Texas City Manager Named Chief Administrator of Palm Desert

The City of Palm Desert has selected a successor for retiring City Manager Lauri Aylaian. The City Council is expected to finalize a contract with Denton, Texas City Manager Todd Hileman on Thursday evening.

Hileman was one of 70 applicants for the job. He holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University and previously served as village manager of Glenview, Illinois. He was named City Manager of the Year by the Illinois Association of Municipal Management Assistants.

"I'm very excited," Councilmember Sabby Jonathan said, as quoted by the Desert Sun. "In my mind, what he brought to the table was his experience. Not just in terms of years, but what he has done at other cities as a city manager."

Hileman is part of a sea change in the Coachella Valley. Five city managers have recently decided to retire. Palm Springs just selected a new top administrator, Justin Clifton, who also comes from out of state. Read more about him here.
