Hemet Fire Chief Scott Brown has retired nearly six years to the day he took office. His last day was Friday, March 12.
Officials from across the Riverside County enclave — from city council members to the city manager — praised Brown’s leadership, calling him instrumental and a “consummate professional.” His tenure saw the reopening of a closed fire station, a formal command structure, and equipment upgrades.
Brown sometimes butted heads with the unions, former Hemet police chief Dave Brown noted. Still, Hemet Fire Fighters Association Local 2342 President Dave Prietto acknowledged the chief’s years of hard work and dedication. He wished him well on behalf of the organization.
