Former Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of perjury as part of a public corruption case involving a local aerospace company.
Prosecutors had accused Ledford of taking $500,000 from aerospace company consultants in exchange for city contracts. The consultants were each sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to a tax code violation and a single count of misappropriating public funds.
As City News reported previously, the wrongdoing came to light in part through a longstanding feud between Ledford and Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris.
Ledford has been sentenced to two years of probation and must pay $189,900 in restitution.
