Antioch gears up for 95,000-square-foot pot facility

Antioch city leaders have unanimously approved a plan to convert a former Kmart into a 95,000-square-foot marijuana facility that includes both an indoor cultivation center and retail dispensary.

Radix Growth is the recipient of the permit. Its new facility will be located on E. 18th St. at a site that has remained vacant since 2018.

Mayor Lamar Thorpe has been enthusiastic about the plan. He hopes it will help turn Antioch into the cannabis capital of Northern California.

“We owe a debt to the cannabis industry for saving people’s jobs and making sure economic growth continued through our city,” said Thorpe, as quoted by KPIX 5.
