Meet Coronado City Manager Tina Friend

Coronado lucked out when it tapped Tina Friend as its new city manager. Friend has nearly two decades of city management experience. She holds a law degree and a masters in Public Policy.

Friend recently sat down with The Coronado Times’ Brad Willis to discuss her priorities as city manager. She identified traffic and water use as some of the city’s biggest challenges. She also discussed landmark housing legislation SB 9 and SB 10 and how they may impact Coronado’s density and single-family neighborhoods. Friend expects the changes to be gradual and not the immediate shock some property owners fear.

Other subjects that came up during the interview include the expansion of the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library, the pandemic recovery, and the city’s policy on COVID-19 vaccines.
