Riverside City Manager Al Zelinka Headed for Huntington Beach

Riverside City Manager Al Zelinka is making the move to Huntington Beach to succeed former top administrator Oliver Chi.

The city named Zelinka as its choice last week.

“His extensive background in city planning and economic development, as well as his noteworthy downtown improvements, make him a tremendous asset and obvious choice for Huntington Beach,” Mayor Barbara Delgleize said.

Zelinka has managed Riverside since 2018. He previously served as Riverside’s assistant manager and as community and economic development director before that. He has been credited with a number of economic development programs as well as a public safety partnership focused on homeless outreach and park safety.

Zelinka holds a bachelor’s degree in public planning from Northern Arizona University and a master’s degree in regional planning from Cornel. He would receive an annual base salary of $320,000.
