Another senior official from the City of Palm Springs has resigned, leaving staff in search of a replacement. Fire Chief Kevin Nalder stepped down effective immediately, according to the city. There is no word on what prompted his departure.
Nalder had served as fire chief for the past seven years. He has worked in the public safety sector since at least 1985.
KQED reports that Deputy Fire Chief Jason Loya will take over as Acting Fire Chief while the city works to fill the permanent position. Those discussions are already underway, according to Communications Manager Amy Blaisdell.
Palm Springs City Manager Justin Clifton tendered his resignation in late July after a 15-month stint. You can read about his departure here.
