Martinez City Manager Resigns

Martinez City Manager Eric Figueroa will step down on January 4, according to an announcement from the city.

Figueroa has served as Martinez’s chief executive for three and a half years. Since July, Assistant City Manager Michael Chandler has been serving as Acting City Manager. That appointment will continue.

Mayor Rob Schroder thanked Figueroa for his service to the city.

“Eric was instrumental in moving us forward on many significant projects and helping us navigate through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. I wish Eric well in his new pursuits, while our team will remain focused on the needs and future of Martinez,” he said.

“It was an honor to serve the residents, business, staff and City Council of Martinez. Our community accomplished a lot these past three and a half years, and I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this winning team,” Figueroa stated.

According to the city, “the terms related to his departure were mutually agreed upon by the City Council and Eric.”
