Rancho Cordova Deputy City Manager Micah Runner will serve as the city’s top administrator, beginning Jan. 1. The City Council has hired Runner to replace Cyrus Abhar, who is retiring after seven years in the position.
Runner has worked in local government for two decades. He previously served as Stockton’s Director of Economic Development, Economic Development Manager for Rancho Cordova, and as a Senior Project Manager for Sacramento.
“I know I speak for all of my colleagues on the City Council when I share that we’re thrilled to announce the promotion of Micah Runner to the position of City Manager,” said Mayor Donald Terry. “We are confident he has the skills and experience to lead our city into the future.”
City Manager Abhar said “it’s a great feeling knowing that the city I care for deeply is in excellent hands and will continue to prosper.”
“I am truly honored to serve as the next City Manager of the entrepreneurial City of Rancho Cordova, and I’m excited to partner with the Mayor and City Council for the future growth of the community,” said Runner. “I look forward to continuing to work with the high-performing city team and the diverse community of residents, non-profits and businesses.”
