Fairfield Names New City Manager

After serving 11 months as Fairfield’s interim city manager, David Gassaway has landed the permanent job.

Gassaway inked a contract with the city last month. The city council voted unanimously to approve its terms.

He will replace Stefan Chatwin, who left in November 2021 and now manages Foster City.

Gassaway was hired in March 2020 to serve as Fairfield’s Assistant City Manager. He was tapped for the interim position after Chatwin left.

“The past year really helped to build a working relationship with the city council and has given me insight into their goals and objectives moving forward,” he said. “I am thankful to the city council for their support. I am excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work with the city council and our excellent team of employees to deliver for this community.”
