California’s reputation for diversity is ironclad. But a new list from WalletHub says the most diverse cities in the nation are actually in Maryland.
Three Maryland cities – Gaithersburg, Germantown and Silver Spring – were named the Most Diverse Cities in America. They were followed by Houston and Arlington, Texas.
Los Angeles was the only California city to land in the top 10.
It’s important to note that WalletHub didn’t just consider racial or cultural diversity. The rankings also factor in economic, educational and occupational diversity.
These are the five most diverse cities in California, according to WalletHub:
- Los Angeles (#10 nationally)
- Long Beach (#15 nationally)
- Oakland (#19 nationally)
- Sacramento (#28 nationally)
- Anaheim (#30 nationally)
