Antioch City Manager Con Johnson Resigns

Antioch City Manager Cornelius “Con” Johnson resigned last week, effective July 14, 2023. 

The development was not surprising. Johnson had been placed on administrative leave in March and Community Development Manager Forrest Ebbs was made acting city manager.

Last month, Ebbs was replaced by Kwame Reed after taking a position in Modesto. As California City News noted, Johnson’s departure — either by resignation or termination — was considered imminent.

Antioch has cycled through five city managers in less than two years.

According to the Contra Costa News, Johnson will receive no severance pay.
