Police have arrested a man suspected of trying to set fire to Los Angeles City Hall over the weekend.
Authorities say Carlos Tercero-Maradiaga, 36, threw an object through a second-floor window Saturday night, igniting a small blaze inside the building. The sprinklers went off and subdued the fire by the time firefighters arrived on scene.
The object was thrown into the office of L.A.’s Chief Legislative Analyst Sharon Tso. The alarm was activated at 8 p.m., summoning the fire department.
According to police, an accelerant was used. The suspect has been booked on arson charges. An investigation into the incident is being led by LAPD’s major crimes division.
