Job Description
The City of Irvine, CA, recognized as one of America’s safest and most successful master-planned urban communities, seeks a City Manager. The City of Irvine, CA is a culturally diverse city of more than 280,000 residents. The ideal candidate will be a professional with outstanding judgment, management skills and integrity. The City Manager will have a verifiable and highly successful career with a proven record of leadership in guiding an organization, with a demonstrated comfort in a variety of municipal functions. The ideal candidate will need to be self-confident and have an open, approachable personal style. This individual must be able to provide leadership that will inspire, motivate, and empower department directors and staff to achieve the City Council’s goals. An individual with experience in culturally diverse immigrant communities is also highly desirable.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration or other relevant discipline is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in local government with at least five years of senior level executive management experience is strongly preferred. Prior or current experience as a City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or a combination of public and private sector executive experience will be considered favorably. California experience is a plus.
