Job Description
The City of Ventura IT Customer Support Team is looking for a dedicated, customer-focused IT Customer Support Technician I/II to join the team.  We are seeking candidates who excel in a collaborative environment and are truly invested in providing first-rate customer service. This team member will provide primary support to the City of Ventura Fire Department, with backup support to the City of Ventura Police Department and other departments as assigned.  
 
The IT Customer Support Team maintains the City of Ventura’s workstations, peripherals, mobile devices, and account administration and supports enterprise applications such as Microsoft Office 365.  The team responds to an ongoing volume of customer incidents, requests and internal provisioning tickets with the goal of providing customers with current equipment, up-to-date systems, and outstanding customer service.

Currently, there is one full-time position available. This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate shall undergo and successfully complete an extensive post-offer Police Department background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting. (Any felony or misdemeanor conviction may disqualify the candidate from City employment.) 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting directly to the IT Customer Support Supervisor and working closely with the Systems Specialist, the IT Customer Support Technician assists with desktop, laptop/tablet, network printer and software incident and service requests.  Primary responsibilities include desktop support, end user support, troubleshooting computer equipment, conducting research, resolving end user application issues, resolving connectivity problems and responding to customers as a result of unforeseen events.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education, experience and training equivalent to completion of high school supplemented by two years of college level coursework in information/computer science or a related field OR, completion of a specialized training program in information/computer science, are required.  One year of information system experience including working on a variety of software may be substituted for specialized training in information/computer science.

Information Technology Customer Support Technician II requires 18 months of increasingly responsible information services and computer support experience equivalent to that of a Information Technology Customer Support Technician I with the City of Ventura, including installation and maintenance activities and working with a variety of software programs.

Both levels are required to undergo and successfully complete an extensive post-offer Police Department background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting. (Any felony or misdemeanor conviction may disqualify the candidate from City employment.) 

License:  Possession of a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Certificate: Possession of relevant and current information services industry recognized certifications are desirable.

SALARY: $ $24.90 - $33.28 Hourly DOQ
