San Joaquin County is recruiting for an Assistant Public Defender to assist the Public Defender in the administration of the Public Defender’s Office, which includes providing administrative and managerial oversight of department operations and programs as well as participating in the professional legal work of the Office.
The Assistant Public Defender assists with the administration of department budgets, functions and activities, while helping to ensure their compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as the policies established by the Public Defender, County Administrator and Board of Supervisors.

Pattern I - Experience: Four years as a Deputy Public Defender in San Joaquin County.
Pattern II - Experience: Five years in the practice of law, including three years specialization in criminal law.
