The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is a dynamic and mutually supportive legal office, involved in everything from designing the future of transportation and housing for the Bay Area to public finance, key contract negotiations, employment law, and public governance. The Associate General Counsel can expect to be a key member of the office who will be directly involved in high-level work and receive mentoring and support from the senior attorneys.

The Associate General Counsel (AGC) is a professional journey-level position well suited to those early in their careers who possess a strong commitment to public service. Under general direction, the AGC performs a broad variety of professional legal duties in support of the senior attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) including preparing and drafting correspondence, opinions, policies, briefs and pleadings; reviewing, and responding to claims and lawsuits; performing legal research; preparation and approval of contract specifications, construction contracts and conveyances; and, drafting and analyzing rules and regulations.

Education, Experience, & Training
A Bachelor’s degree, graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the California Bar is expected, in addition to two (2) to three (3) years of experience in the active practice of law in California providing research, memos, briefs and opinions. Public sector experience is desirable. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
