Starting salary up to $45.84/hour ($95,673/year) plus a cash allowance of approximately $600/month*

The Sonoma County EDB is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Economic Development professional to become their Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) Program Manager. As the BRE Program Manager, you will focus on results-oriented, business retention and expansion services, visiting approximately 200 businesses a year throughout the County, and collaborating with other local partners. In this role you will serve as a liaison to the business community, the primary point of contact on all County marketing, recruitment, and business expansion activities; you will connect business owners and entrepreneurs with business services, programs, and resources provided by the EDB and the County, and​​​​

- Serve as a key customer service representative in assisting new and expanding businesses in areas of County and city building code permitting requirements
- Research and maintain the demographic, socioeconomic, and quality of life data used to support businesses and business development initiatives
- Establish a network with local chambers of commerce, business and trade groups, and other regional partners by holding regular community visits, attending business events and chamber mixers, etc.
- Track interactions with current and prospective businesses
The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

- Strong communication skills in order to support our local business community in identifying, mitigating, and overcoming barriers
- The ability to facilitate and coordinate long-range economic planning activities
- Working knowledge of planning, land use, and commercial real estate
- Knowledge of commercial lending practices, and non-banking alternative forms of financing, marketing and sales, and real estate transactions
- The ability to utilize software including Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping software and databases to provide business intelligence and location information to local business
- Working knowledge of web design and social media tools, as well as Constant Contact, to oversee a digital business retention and expansion campaign
