Job Description

The City of Salinas is the 33rd largest City in the state with a population of approximately 163,542.  Salinas is in beautiful Monterey County and is the County seat. The City of Salinas is seeking a proactive Chief of Police who has demonstrated success in working with a diverse community while leading a professional law enforcement agency. The successful candidate will be open-minded, serve as an advocate for the department while balancing the needs of stakeholders, and will understand the importance of technology and data in the decision-making process. The incoming Chief must exemplify professionalism, leadership and integrity, and should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Chief of Police is an at-will position with an annual salary range of $185,112 to $236,256. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications.
