The City of Palo Alto is a community of 69,700 residents and home to nearly 100,000 jobs as well as Stanford University. Known as the birthplace and heart of the Silicon Valley located between San Francisco and San Jose, it is also recognized for its beautiful neighborhoods and vibrant downtown. A full-service city, Palo Alto is supported by a FY2019-20 General Fund budget of $230.8 million (total budget $723.8 million) and employs over 1,000 full-time employees. The Chief Procurement Officer oversees eight team members and reports to the Assistant Director of Administrative Services.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, progressive procurement professional who enjoys problem solving, making positive impacts and delivering reliable, consistent service.  He/she will be a strong people manager with exceptional technical knowledge and skills and a history of working collaboratively. At least three years of relevant management experience and a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.  A Master’s degree and/or purchasing certification is desirable.
