We are in search of a committed team player to be the liaison with department leadership to champion, develop and implement a comprehensive, strategic communications and marketing plan to ensure key messages are promoted through all communication platforms and channels.
Develop and implement strategies to communicate and promote City initiatives and activities and encourage public involvement.
Produce and coordinate communications and marketing efforts through website, social media, public events, meetings, and presentations.
Create internal and external communications such as electronic newsletters, brochures, web content, social media content, press releases, speeches, and presentations.
Maintain and add content to City website, ensuring branding and messaging is consistent throughout.
Coordinate press releases and serve as an organization liaison to the media.
Drive civic engagement through community education, events and activities.
Strategize with departments, organize and participate in special events.
Participate on special projects to assist with public outreach, public engagement, and messaging.
The position will be in the City Manager’s Office and is an at-will position.
The ideal candidate should possess:
A proven track record of implementing effective communication strategies in a variety of print and digital media.
A history of establishing credibility, earning trust, and confidence of team members.
Three or more years of experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, or public affairs.
BA/BS in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, or Business Administration.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, strong knowledge/familiarity with Internet and web-based communications.
Excellent verbal and written communications/interpersonal skills.
A valid class C California driver’s license
