This salary range reflects the negotiable range for hire, however, the top of the range for future career and salary advancement tops at $181,970

The County of Santa Barbara is seeking a Deputy Director over Administrative Functions for the Department of Social Services, as well as serve as Acting Department Director in his/her absence. This position works as a partner with other County and Department executives, to plan and organize objectives and formulate policy and direct and evaluate the work of the Department of Social Services and the County. This position can either have a background in program administration, finance, compliance, or administration, within a health and human service agency or mid-large governmental entity. The Department prefers the Deputy Director to report to our City of Santa Maria office (north Santa Barbara County), however the City of Santa Barbara office could be considered. This position is at-will and oversees an approximate staff of 112 and a total department budget of $191 million. Our ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in social or behavioral sciences or management such as business administration, organizational management, public administration, or closely related degree, and seven years of increasingly responsible professional experience including five years of management level administrative, supervisory or project management responsibilities.
