The Deputy Public Works Director position is a great opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment while enriching the quality of life within Stockton. 
 
The Deputy Public Works Director will oversee the Public Works Department’s Operations & Maintenance division.  This position reports to the Director of Public Works and will serve as liaison for the department to other city departments, divisions, elected officials, the public, and outside agencies.  The Deputy Public Works Director will be responsible for the operation of the following maintenance sections: engineering, streets, traffic devices, fleet, facilities maintenance, trees and parks.  The position will provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Public Works, and deliver leadership, training, and mentoring to division managers and supervisors.  This position will oversee approximately 100 full-time employees spread amongst the division.

Education/Experience:
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in civil engineering, management, or a related field and five (5) years of supervisory experience in public works activities related to the assigned division.

Other Requirements:
· Specified positions may require possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
· Deputy Public Works Director (PE) requires possession of a valid registration as a California Professional Civil Engineer
