$136,589.53 - $191,225.34 Annually, plus Benefits

WHAT WE OFFER:
In addition to an annual base salary of $136,589.53 - $191,225.34, , the Director of Fiscal and Administrative Services will receive an attractive benefits package that includes:

  • GENERAL SALARY INCREASE:  A general salary increase of 3.5% effective December 22, 2024
  • NEW HIRE INCENTIVE:  New hires may be eligible for a one-time New Hire Incentive up to 10% of the current annual base wage. (Subject to the applicable section of the Management Resolution (Secs. 625 – 627) 
  • EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: may be eligible for 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5%, based on completion of an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree from an accredited institution not required for the position.
  • RETIREMENT/SOCIAL SECURITY: Defined retirement benefits vest after 5 years of service. The County and you also each contribute to Social Security. For more information, visit: https://www.vcera.org/.
  • HEALTH PLANS: Medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your dependents. A flexible credit allowance of up to $23,530 annually.
  • FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS: Increase your spending power by reimbursing you with pre-taxed dollars for IRS approved dependent care and health care expenses.
  • EXECUTIVE ANNUAL LEAVE: 248 hours earned per year, increasing to 288 hours after 5 years of service, to 328 hours after 10 years of service, and to 368 hours after 15 years of service. *Credit for prior public service may be considered (Management Resolution, §1202)
  • ANNUAL LEAVE REDEMPTION:  The ability to "cash in" or redeem up to 100 hours of Annual Leave per year after using 80 hours.
  • HOLIDAYS: 12 paid days per year, including 1 floating holiday to use at your discretion.
  • DEFERRED COMPENSATION: You may elect to contribute to one or both of the County's deferred compensation plans (established under Internal Revenue Code sections 401(k) and 457). If you participate in the County sponsored 401(k) plan, the County will match a part of your contribution up to 3% of your salary, on a per pay period basis.  Following five (5) years of continuous County service, an additional 2% non-elective contribution will be made to the 401(k) plan.

The Director of Fiscal and Administrative Services is an at-will position which is exempt from the provisions of the Civil Service Ordinance.  

Under the direction of the Assistant County Executive Officer (Chief of Staff), leads, manages, and supervises the Fiscal and Administrative Unit of the County Executive Office, represents the agency in budgetary, fiscal, personnel, and administrative responsibilities, performs staff assistance to the director, and performs related work as required. The incumbent will be required to be actively involved in the same type of work and activities they lead. They will exhibit a “hands- on” approach and spend time interacting directly with their employees and working on similar tasks. 

EUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 

Any combination of education and experience which would demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of a qualifying education and experience is: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field, AND Five (5) years of recent, professional accounting, experience, which includes at least three (3) years of direct supervisory experience. DESIRED: A Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; OR A California Certified Public Accountant license. Public sector experience.
