Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) is seeking a Finance Director (Director) to provide oversight of the Accounting and Customer Service Divisions, while heading fiscal operations for several exciting infrastructure projects. As Director, you will supervise an efficient and highly capable team of 10 professionals and manage a total annual organizational budget of approximately $29 million, which includes TUD’s $8.3 million Capital Improvement Program (CIP). While this role requires a strong understanding of accounting practices, the key responsibilities of this position involve compliance, long-term capital planning, grant and loan administration, and the securing of additional funding for upcoming projects. THE JOB & IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Finance Director will oversee all the activities of the Finance Department, including management of TUD’s $29 million annual budget, administration of existing grants and loans, financial reporting, cost and revenue projections, purchasing, accounting, and preparation of Request for Proposals (RFPs). The Director will also work closely with the General Manager and the Board of Directors to set financial goals and strategy, work to secure funding streams for ongoing and upcoming capital projects, and develop Department staff.
TUD’s ideal Finance Director will be a dynamic and experienced leader well-equipped to oversee the exemplary finance team, and eager to play a pivotal role in securing the long-term financial health of TUD. This Director will have a proven history of positive, encouraging, and collaborative leadership, as well as a history of evaluating and developing teams. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior accounting experience working in a governmental organization. The Director will also be comfortable explaining complex financial concepts when interfacing with the Board, greater staff, and the general public. A flexible and positive mindset is imperative to the success of this role.
