Fire Chief City of Rocklin, CA The City of Rocklin is located in southern Placer County and is characterized by rolling hill terrain with 360-degree panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the northeast and to the Sutter-Butte mountain range to the west. With an estimated population of 70,000 people, Rocklin is one of the fastest growing cities in California with approximately 65% of its growth occurring since the year 2000. Rocklin’s Fire Department provides fire, emergency medical, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue services within a response area of 19.6 square miles. For 2019, with a budget of $10.8 million, three fire stations, and an allocated staff of 41, the Department responded to 5,651 incidents of which 3,733 were EMS/Rescue Incidents, 167 total Fires of which 49 were Structure Fires, and 365 False Alarms. The Department has recently brought into service two new engines and has on order a new Tiller ladder truck, has remodeled a fire station with another station currently being remodeled, added a Deputy Fire Chief position and just hired four new firefighters bringing the Department up to full staff. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of modern fire suppression and prevention principles, rescue, investigations, inspection, emergency preparedness, and emergency medical services. The new Fire Chief will be a hands-on working leader who is visionary and proactive and takes a genuine interest in all aspects of the Department and its people. Bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of recent, broad and extensive experience in all major functions of a modern fire department including at least five years in a responsible management position required. The annual salary range for this opportunity is from $156,724 to $216,044 with excellent benefits, and appointment will be made depending upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
