Lakeport Fire District is an independent, all-risk fire district located in the county seat of Lake County on the west shore of Clear Lake, California’s largest natural fresh-water lake. The District provides fire protection and ALS ambulance service to the citizens in the unincorporated and incorporated areas of Lakeport. The Lakeport Fire Protection District is seeking a proven leader to serve as its Fire Chief. The ideal candidate will have a balance of technical skills and personal attributes, capable of organizing and directing staff to accomplish the goals established by the District. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in fire science, fire administration, education, or a closely related field is highly desirable. Candidates must possess a California Operator’s Class B License or Class C with Firefighter Endorsement. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid EMT-1 Emergency Medical Technician Certification. The typical candidate will have not less than seven (7) years of experience in emergency fire operations, with three (3) or more years having been full-time, full-paid employee in fire training or as a Captain or higher assigned to fire related duties. Candidates are expected to maintain a residence within reasonable driving time from the Main Station within one year of appointment. The monthly salary range for the Fire Chief is $6,429.88 - $8,206.35; placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications and the salary and benefits are currently under negotiations.
