Example of Duties:
The City of Port Hueneme seeks an energetic and experienced Human Resources/ Risk Manager to drive successful operations of the City's Human Resources Division within the City Manager's Department. This position reports to the Deputy City Manager and oversees two staff, a budget of approximately $1.2 million, and critical function of Human Resources.
Typical Qualifications:
The Human Resources and Risk Manager is an integral part of the City Manager's Office and leadership team. The position oversees HR policy, planning and processes, classification and compensation, talent acquisition, retention, performance, organizational development and HR systems design and implementation, the HR Manager will also oversee risk management and labor relations. The City is a member agency of the California Join Powers Authority which has a variety of tools to assist in with the development of job knowledge pertaining to risk management.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources management, business administration, public administration, or closely related field.
Experience:
Six years of progressively responsible administrative work in the field of human resources/risk preferably in a local government agency including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
