The City of San José is seeking a team oriented and collaborative individual with significant experience in high-profile press and media relations, a track record of outstanding accomplishments and superior performance and the capacity to function in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Candidates must possess a combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this position. To meet the minimum qualifications of the position, the candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with an emphasis in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field providing education in writing, and public policy and seven (7) years of professional experience working in the field of public/media relations in a political office, government entity, major corporation, or nonprofit. Multi-lingual skills are highly desirable. Master's degree is preferred.  The salary range for the Mayor’s Communications Director is $124,500 - $200,850 (pending Council approval at end of August).
