Located midway between San Francisco and San José in San Mateo County, the Town of Woodside (pop. 5,212) has a well-deserved reputation as one of the most beautiful communities in California. Spanning 14 square miles, Woodside is largely affluent residential and home to many Silicon Valley executives. The Town is fiscally strong and the Planning Department is supported by a team of 6 FTE/employees.

The ideal candidate will have a history of managing complex, challenging projects while creating inclusive opportunities for community engagement. They will appreciate Woodside’s stable history and collaborative organizational culture where work-life balance and flexibility have been in place and valued long before the pandemic. This planning professional will be both strategic and a hands-on working Director. The Director will lead the Town’s future planning efforts with current focus on the Housing Element. Competitive candidates will have eight years of progressively responsible professional experience in Planning, three years as a supervisor, and a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree and/or AICP certification is desirable.
