The San Dieguito Water District, a division of the City of Encinitas’ Public Works Department, is seeking an experienced Water Operations Manager. This vacancy is due to a recent retirement of a long-tenured and highly regarded incumbent and as a result, is a rare chance to join a top performing organization. The Water District has an annual operating budget of $21.2 million, an annual expenditure of $3.3 million for capital improvements a staff of 15. The Water Operations Manager is an exempt at-will position that reports to and receives general direction from the Assistant General Manager of the San Dieguito Water District. The Water Operations Manager is responsible for planning and monitoring all daily operations, maintenance, repair, and construction of the pipeline system and structures.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation of domestic water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities including supervisory experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Grade 3 State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Certificate is required, and Grade 2 State Water Resources Control Board Water Treatment Certificate is highly desirable.
The anticipated entry salary for the Water Operations Manager is $86,880 to $128,352 annually DOQ. In addition, the City of Encinitas offers an excellent executive benefit package including CalPERS retirement.
